The Life Science Center is a laboratory and office complex and part of Düsseldorf Innovation and Technology Centre. It offers innovative start-ups and companies in the area of life sciences as well as related cutting-edge technologies an ideal environment to develop their ideas.

Laboratories and office space

A total of 12,000 m² of laboratory and office space are available for stakeholders in the life sciences sector. Air-conditioned laboratories up to Biosafety Level 2 and flexible floor plans for offices from 20 m² upwards meet companies’ individual needs and provide perfect room to grow.

Business network

The Life Science Center is closely networked with the Rhineland bioregion and a partner in regional and nationwide biotechnology. Our network of experts in the areas of finance, patents, research and development and technology transfer are on hand to help you in all corporate issues – quickly and without red tape.

Düsseldorf – The place for life sciences

A highly diversified life sciences sector has developed in the Düsseldorf region. About 100 companies have their headquarters here, including global players such as Qiagen, Dynavax, Charles River, UCB, Bayer CropScience, Medtronic or Henkel.

Whether university start-up or multinational, laboratory supplier or specialized service provider – they are all here. This also applies to related sectors, such as pharmaceuticals, medical technology and chemistry. But above all start-ups find here a strong ecosystem with experienced business angels and investors, cooperation partners in large companies and a broad range of services on offer from the Start-up Unit of Düsseldorf Economic Development Office.

Higher education & research

Heinrich Heine University and Düsseldorf University Hospital are renowned for their research in the field of life sciences. They are home to over 2,500 scientists who are working above all in the areas of molecular and clinical hepatology, cardiovascular disease, infectious diseases and immunity, molecular and clinical neuroscience, diabetes and metabolic disorders, oncology, health and society as well as stem cell research. The Leibniz Research Institute for Environmental Medicine (IUF) and the German Diabetes Centre (DDZ) are further important players in Düsseldorf’s research landscape.

Rhineland bioregion

Düsseldorf’s biotech scene is part of BioRiver®, the biotechnology cluster in the Rhineland. BioRiver – Life Sciences im Rheinland e.V. is an association that today has more than 100 members – institutions in science and business from the regions of Aachen, Bonn, Düsseldorf, Cologne, Leverkusen, Jülich and Wuppertal. LifeScienceNet Düsseldorf is responsible for bringing together partners from business and science in the Düsseldorf area. In the framework of regular network meetings, it organizes presentations by companies and university professors, lectures on corporate and scientific topics and information sessions on funding programmes.

DITEC offers you a wide range of services. We see ourselves as the link between business, science and finance and accompany you through all the stages of setting up and further developing your company.

We are part of a tight-knit network of institutions, organizations and individuals that you can call on at short notice and without red tape, e.g. when looking for partners or if you have a question about finance.

In cooperation with the Center for Entrepreneurship Düsseldorf (CEDUS) of Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf, DITEC offers extensive services for knowledge and technology-based start-ups – from initial idea to business launch:

Life Science Center Düsseldorf offers flexible laboratory and office space with all the necessary technical connections to meet individual requirements.

Seminar and conference rooms

Conference and seminar rooms with state-of-the-art presentation equipment and internet access are available both for tenants and external organizers for conferences, seminars and workshops.

If requested, the centre’s management team can arrange the catering. Upon request, parking spaces can also be made available on the day of the event.

Storerooms / Underground car park

Storerooms of 15 m² upwards are available at Life Science Center Düsseldorf for an additional rent. There are over 300 parking spaces in the two-storey underground car park for tenants and visitors.
